Hi and welcome,

This website belongs to the Bradford Samba Band. We’re a society in the University of Bradford Union but we’re open to everyone: If you want to creatively protest the great injustices of the world, then you’re welcome here. If you’ve got rhythm, its a bonus, but its not essential. We’re always looking for new members, so please get involved.

If you want us to come and play at a protest you’ve got planned, or just to say ‘hi!', drop an email to bradfordsamba[at]riseup.net (change the [at] bit) and we’ll discuss it at our next band meeting. Do check the list of events, just in case we’re double booked or already planning to come along.

We aim to play the same Samba tunes you can hear on protests in the UK or across Europe, and we hope to play lots of protests and the odd party. We’re a part of Rhythms of Resistance which is a transnational radical samba band and have played alongside other member-bands. We are also linked to the Action Samba North network, which is kind of a regional version of RoR.

We do hope you enjoy looking around our site, and that one day our paths will cross on the great road towards a more just and joyful world. In the meantime, if you feel compelled to support us in other ways, you’ll find a ‘donate’ link at the bottom of the page. The Samba instruments we play cost £15-£130, so £15 could mean one extra person has a real instrument rather than a baked-beans can on which to play!

If you are a member, please check events and things to do regularly, add your photos to the photo gallery and please, please contribute to our history!
